+GIVEAWAY over at Flock & Workshop Boutiques

Has it really been 3 months since my last posting? Oh boy...this whole social media thing is a lot of work. Between sketching, drafting, producing, testing patterns AND making handbags, I have little time to be social. I should change that...but then again, I said that before. Anyway....

What better reason to say something than to announce a GIVEAWAY!!!! Yup! That's right. But not by me. By one of my stockist in fabulous Ottawa, Ontario. And, yes, it's one of my handbags.

Head over to their blog here to get the chance to win.... HER!

Aha, that's right...'nuf said!

And if, for some unfortunate reason you didn't win...she's available for purchase at my e-shop Paco+Lupe *shameless promotion*

+Sneak peek - designing a chevron print out of fabrics

I couldn't find a faux suede fabric with a cool chevron design so I decided to create my own. It turns out to be a heck of a lot of work. What was I thinking???

I love the 70s bohemian look but I want to make sure that this chevron design is a modernized version.

What I'm doing is using three shades of microfiber faux suede fabrics: a light beige, beige and mustard yellow. Each is cut in strips of specific width. I sew them in a sequence. Then, I sew the seams down flat, leaving stitches along the connection. Once all the strips are sewn, I then cut strips at 45 degrees angle, sew those together, alternating the directions of the strips to create the chevron. I didn't match the colours on purpose. It'll be too thick at the connections if I did. Plus it looks better and less hippy that way. And voila!

I know...I AM CRAZY!!! Even I am curious to see how this is going to end up looking. Can't stop now. I already cut a bunch of strips to make more. Gotta go and make "fabric". LOL

+Introducing...Let Me Call You Sweetheart clutch

Long time ago, I bought one large garbage bag full of leather scraps that would have ended up in the dump. I chose a lot of reds, blacks, beige and more beige. I contemplated to make flowers but there are so many bags out there with flowers already. I wanted something more sweet without the calories...HEARTS! I'll do hearts. But because the size of the scraps are random, I couldn't get a big piece to cut out a whole heart. Instead, I made a puzzle of a heart. Kinda like picking up the pieces of a broken heart and making it whole again. I know. I know. I'm getting sentimental.

Anyway, here she is, my latest FW2012 clutch...Let Me Call You Sweetheart

She is now available at Paco+Lupe. Go check her out!

+Introducing...HotSpot messenger bag

Another addition to the FW 2012-13...HOTSPOT.

I love the practically of a messenger bag. I love the cross-body strap leaving my hands free. Plus it is more comfortable to carry a load cross-body.

For this bag, I chose a microsuede fabric that is upholstery weight and stain-resistant. The fabric has a bit of velveteen sheen to it and interesting mini chevron print on it. Look closer!

Anyway, here are some mug-shots!

HotSpot messenger bag is available now at Paco+Lupe. Go check it out...and let me know what you think!
